Faculty Search

What is Faculty Search?

Faculty Search (FS) is one of three Interfolio modules adopted by Rice to enhance key faculty processes, alongside Faculty Activity Reporting (FAR) and Review, Promotion, and Tenure (RPT). Launched on November 1, 2020, the system aims to improve the experience for faculty search committee members and is integrated with Oracle/iO for faculty postings, search committee evaluation, hiring proposal approvals, and new faculty onboarding.

User Roles

A user's role determines their capabilities in Interfolio Faculty Search:

  • Evaluators are faculty assigned to one or more search committees by an Administrator or Committee Manager. Evaluators can view applications, add labels to applications, and add ratings and comments on applications. Evaluators are members of the search committee.
  • Committee Managers facilitate searches at the department level. Committee Managers can close the posting, edit settings, communicate with applicants, move applicants into various statuses, and view reports. The Committee Manager role is limited to department administrators and search committee chairs.
  • Administrators, usually at the dean's office level, can create, manage, and monitor searches in their school. They can also control settings and permissions for their school. Administrators include the deans' office and department chairs.
